The Zoo

We went to the zoo a few weeks ago.  It was Jack's first trip (at least at an age he could enjoy it).  He loved the elephants, and Lexi loved the penguins.  Jack also loved all the inside exhibits.  He ran from one window to the other yelling, "Ooooooo."  All the while running over everyone in his way.  I followed him apologizing.  Luckily, everyone thought he was cute :).  Here are some pictures.
Picnic before the zoo

Horrible shot of the girls, but it captures Jack's joy over the elephants!

Ooooooo!

Snack time!

Jack was exhausted!

Funny Lexi

So, we were sitting in Zaxbys when Lexi looked over my shoulder and said, "Mom, what does no bull mean?"  I turned around and saw the sign.  I said, "It means you're not kidding.  Like no joke."  She looked at me for a minute and then said, "Oh, I get it."
L:  Mommy, Knock, knock.
Me: Who's there?
L: Real Chicken
Me: Real Chicken who?
L: No bull

Apparently, I did not do a good job of explaining what "no bull" meant.  But, hey, maybe we'll get the royalties when her new joke is added to the joke books :).

Easter Pictures

Our Easter tradition is to get up, see what the bunny brought, go to church, and get home entertain both sides of the family.  We have a wonderful day and the pictures prove it :).

Lexi Fun Night

Sometimes we try to do things that are fun for just Lexi.  She's a great sister and often has to sacrifice what she wants to do to because of her brother.  She never complains :).  So, we came up with something special for her tonight.

Before I go into details, I have to say that it worked out perfectly because today at gym, Lexi got her back handspring!  She was so excited.  She also got her front hip-circle on the bars.  So she was totally pumped already which made the night even more fun!

Once it grew dark outside, we let Lexi know we had a surprise and while we prepared she was forced to sit in the living room reading a book.  When we let her out, we had a glow-in-the-dark egg hunt and we made smores - out of peeps!  Perhaps I should give Pinterest credit here as well, but most of you probably recognize it.  I figure it doesn't matter where you get the ideas as long as you use them :).

We hid the eggs all around the playhouse.  In the dark picture above, you can see the specs of light.  Lexi came out in her PJ's and found them all (rather quickly, because the idea is certainly not to hide them well).

Once we finished finding the eggs, it was time for a fire.  She loved making smores with the pink peeps bunnies!

It was a great night and Lexi said it was the best part of Spring Break (even better than getting her back handspring at gym!).  No matter what, the memories we made were awesome!

Spring Break - Pinterest Style!

So, from about 7 (when Lexi gets up) until lunch, I'm looking for ways to fill the time with the kids.  They can play by themselves some, but they need some entertainment, too.  Since we aren't big on TV, I have to find things to keep them busy.  Trying to find things they can both do (given their age difference) can be a challenge.  Today, we completed 3 activities all via Pinterest.

 1. Crayon picture - Lexi and I did most of the work, though Jack did enjoy watching it melt.  Here's the website.

2. Coasters  - We did leave Jack out of this. However, he had fun running around on the porch so at least he was contained.  Lexi is super excited about have coasters for her room.  We still have to seal them, but pretty happy about how they turned out!  Here's the website.

 3. Flower candies - This we actually did together.  Well Lexi and I unwrapped, placed, and created the food while Jack snacked on pretzels and tried to grab the chocolate.  Still lots of fun!  Here's the website.

I know most of you would have liked more pictures of the projects in progress, but with a 6 and 2 year old, my job is more about safety and survival and pictures are an after thought.  Sorry!  Now, what will we get into tomorrow?
