Wedding Weekend

This will be a long post of pictures, but it was a long, fun weekend full of memories :).  Both kids and I were honored to be a part of Hollis and Mike Walsh's wedding weekend.  Jack was the ring bearer, Lexi the flower girl, and I was a Matron of Honor.  We all had such a wonderful time and here is the proof :)!

Halloween

We always enjoy "old-school" Trick-or-Treat in our house.  We really enjoyed making Lexi's costume this year (paper doll), and the neighborhood seemed to think she was great :).  Jack dressed as his future career - train engineer.  We put on knit hats, two layers of clothes, loaded up the wagon and headed out - walking.  We are the only ones around I think who still walk, but it makes for a lot of fun memories.  Enjoy the pictures!

Jack "Reading"

Jack is your stereotypical second kid/boy.  He doesn't perform on cue and he speaks only when required.  So, this new found love of "reading aloud" is so much fun.  Here's a video of him "reading" If You Take a Mouse to School.  We got cut off right near the end, but it's still most of the story.

Clemson Tigers

So, we are a die hard college football family.  In fact, as I write this, I am looking at a 220 inch screen my husband built for our backyard to project football games onto.  Our family lives and breathes football during the fall and we pledge our allegiance to Clemson.  That means anything orange is golden, and just in case you are wondering, anything garnet is off limits.  So, we took our kids to the first game of the season.  We have to take the kids to a game where we can leave early, so Ball State was a good choice.  We take them because we want them to fall in love with the experience, but there's no way they could sit through a whole game.  Even with the heat, the kids really enjoyed the day.  From the beautiful campus to the stadium with a new sound system, 3 new HD video boards, and fireworks.  It was an awesome day!

One of the best things about campus...big, old trees

A Lexi Story

So, in Target, Lexi asks, "Mom, what are lips for?"  I respond with the usual, "What do you think?"  Here's the rest:
L: They are for kissing.
Me:  Well, that's true, but we also need them to eat and talk and drink and lot of other stuff.
L: But Mom, you have to say kissing.  That's important.
Me:  Why?
L: Because if people didn't kiss they couldn't get married.  And, if they can't get married, there wouldn't be any children!
Me: Oh, I see.
Then, I look around the corner and see a co-worker dying laughing at the entire exchange.  So glad we could entertain :)

Here are her first day of second grade pics!

Adventurous Summer Weekend

So, after a sudden change of plans, we ended up at home this weekend.  Lexi and Eric have both been in the mood to be adventurous, so...they camped out on the deck one night and then we spent the next day exploring the parks in Clarks Hill.  Our exploration even took us to the dam.  It was a beautiful day, but quite exhausting...just ask Jack!
